"I AM CAPTIVATED BY SIMPLE BEAUTY OF AGRARIAN VESSELS USED MAINLY FOR GATHERING AND STORING HARVEST; LARGE HERDSMEN BUCKETS, WICKER BASKETS, OR SMALL FOREST FRUIT PICKERS. WORKS ARE GLAZED WITH TRANSPARENT GLAZE; UNDERSURFACES ARE LEFT UNGLAZED, POLISHED AND TREATED WITH NATURAL BEESWAX."

Pursuing an interest in folklore traditions, Silvia’s latest collection is inspired by an ethnographical study of Slovak peasant artefacts. Her work reflects the simple beauty of agrarian vessels; large herdsmen buckets, wicker baskets, or small fruit pickers. Decoration is inspired by the marks left behind in the landscape, using coloured slip mixed from raw materials, oxides and coloured stains, & handles made from naturally tanned brown British leather are attached by brass screw rivets.
